Find Out If You’re Eligible
Are you interested in joining the AHHA Study? We’re recruiting men and transpeople who have sex with men, are ages 50 and older, and are either HIV- or HIV+. Give us a call at (415) 949-8336 or fill out the contact form below and we’ll get back to you soon.
Your Clinic Visit
One of our research coordinators will speak to you over the phone, tell you a bit more about the study, and ask some pre-screen questions to figure out whether the AHHA Study or a different study might be best for you.
During the first visit, held at the UCSF Mt. Zion ANCRE Clinic, you can expect a blood draw, self-administered questionnaire, physical examination, and a high resolution anoscopy examination (HRA exam) performed by one of our clinicians.
About 2-6 weeks after your visit, our nurse will contact you to inform you of the results from your visit. One of our study coordinators will then let you know if you are eligible to continue with the AHHA Study or, possibly, to be referred to a different study.
Eligible participants will be included in a three-year, follow-up portion of the AHHA study, space permitting. Follow-up visits, which will occur every six months, will follow a similar format to your first visit. This will include a blood draw, follow-up self-administered questionnaire, physical examination, and a possible high resolution anoscopy examination (HRA exam), depending on your visit results, performed by one of our clinicians.
